Upgraded Camera Performance

DJI Mini 2 vs. Mavic Mini

Mavic Mini is an enthusiast’s secret weapon. When you settle for a drone that allows only 2.7K video recording, you’re missing out on a shot of a lifetime. With its 4K/30fps camera, DJI Mini 2 captures progressive, high-quality videos you’ll want to share with your family and friends.

The Mavic Mini could only shoot up to 40mbps, the resolution and bit rate of the Mini 2 should be a good step up.

It is interesting to note that the DJI Mavic Air 2, with its combination of its large 1/2-inch sensor and 120Mb/s bitrate, offers an upgrade, while the Mini 2 uses the same 1/2.3-inch sensor found in the original Mavic Mini. Too bad DJI did not follow suit, allowing 2.7K/60p in its new ultra-lightweight quadcopter.

The DJI Mini 2 offers four times the zoom power of the DJI Mavic. Now you can record dynamic, engaging footage when you’re too far away to hear your own jokes about Snapchat.

The Mavic Mini takes only JPEG photos, but the DJI Mini 2 supports both JPEGs and RAWs. We think there’s a much bigger sweet spot in post processing; is it just us?

No more pesky JPEG, DJI Mini 2 supports both JPEGs and RAWs for ultimate photo flexibility, a file type which contains all the data captured by the camera sensor, giving you more flexibility when it comes time to edit and share your work.

OcuSync 2.0

DJI Mini 2 vs. Mavic Mini

Fly farther and stay out longer – OcuSync 2.0 makes it easy to enjoy worry-free flight. The DJI Mini 2 is equipped with OcuSync 2.0, the latest transmission technology from DJI, for a range that's even farther and clearer.

With dual transmission frequencies and advanced processing capabilities, the DJI Mini 2 provides 10 km / 6.21 mi of transmission distance and crystal-clear images without a worry in sight.

The Mini 2 will be controllable from much further away than the previous version. Its video feed will go up to 6km in Europe and 10km in FCC compliant countries.

A nice bonus of the controller that comes with the DJI Mini 2 is that it is the same unit that comes with the DJI Mavic Air 2 or DJI Air 2S. Not only does this increase flexibility, but when you buy the DJI Mini 2, you get a really solid piece of kit.

I prefer the controller that comes with the DJI Mini 2, rather than the older, outdated Mavic Mini / Mini SE / Mavic 2 Pro remote controller. I much rather have the phone mounted on top of the remote than below.

Wind Resistance

DJI Mini 2 vs. Mavic Mini

Mini 2 is the sequel to the popular Mavic mini. It shares the same adorable body and features a super fast max speed of 16 m/s (56km/h). It's also more wind resistant, so you can fly it in more difficult windy weather conditions.

You get fewer wind warnings on the DJI Mini 2 and the general fear that the drone will be overtaken by gusts.

The Mini 2 has more powerful motors which also helps with unpredictable gusts of wind.

Additional Intelligent Flight Modes

Built for new pilots, the DJI Mini 2 and Mavic Mini have some of the same intelligent features as their bigger siblings, along with some new ones. They make flying easier, more fun, and offer great picture quality. Fly above a beautiful mountain range one moment, then home in for a dronie the next. Its panorama feature lets you take breathtaking photos at a moment’s notice.

With QuickTransfer on the Mini 2, enjoy download speeds up to 20Mbps, it is the perfect companion for your smartphone. Trimmed Downloading carves out a segment of an incredibly long video to edit and download. No longer will you need to worry about any sort of storage issues.

Mini 2 has all the features of its predecessor, and even more. It’s the smartest and most convenient drone yet.

Verdict: DJI Mini 2 or Mavic Mini?
