There are many factors that affect which memory card you should use. Before I explain, let me tell you a story. I once had to help a client choose a MicroSD card for his drone. He asked me which one he should get and I told him the class was just as important as the card he chose would determine the quality of his footage.

He didn't listen, and ended up buying the very cheapest cards. This led to him ending up with occasional lost footage, video recording stopping and glitchy functionality when flying his brand new drone.

DJI Inspire 2 Specs

  • 6K 30fps CinemaDNG
  • 5.2K Apple ProRes
  • Up to 94KM/H
  • 7KM Control range
  • 23-27 Flight Time

The DJI Inspire 2 drone is equipped with forward and downward vision systems, which allow it to map its flight trajectory in real-time. If it loses its video transmission system signal and Smart Return to Home is enabled, it is able to fly home along its original route and plan a safe route home when it regains a signal. As it returns, it will use its primary camera to identify obstacles as far as 200 meters in front of it and it reconnects more quickly after losing connection.

DJI's Lightbridge technology has an effective transmission distance of up to 4.3mi (7km) and is capable of delivering both 1080p/720p video as well as the FPV view to the pilot and camera operator. Users can also switch between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz control frequencies to cut through noise for greater signal stability.

As well as the intelligent flight modes, there are many intelligent shooting modes. These modes are optimized when using Point of Interest and Waypoint modes, making complex shots simple and repeatable. Other modes available are QuickSpin, TapFly and ActiveTrack.

What MicroSD Memory Cards can I use with my Inspire 2?

The Inspire 2 supports MicroSD cards with capacity up to 128GB (quite a lot of storage for most users). The speed of your card is just as important as its capacity. DJI recommends the following minimum card speeds:

  • UHS-3 (preferred) or better recommended by DJI. :)
  • H.264/H.265: 100Mb/s

UHS stands for Ultra High Speed. The SD Association has two UHS Speed Classes, UHS Speed Class 1 and UHS Speed Class UHS Speed Class 1 supports a minimum 10MB/s write speed, whereas UHS Speed Class 3 supports at least 30MB/s write speed.

It doesn't matter what the recording settings are. The H.264/H.265 codec is always 100 Mb/s. I buy the fastest cards but it's probably not necessary for the drone writing to the card.
